Bike of Honour exhibits

The Bike of Honour has been one of our symbols for a while. Throughout the first edition of "Ride for your Rights!", many of our most prominent supporters signed the Bike of Honour to show that they stand by us in the effort to promote student mobility.

Before we began the Luxembourg - Brussels Tour, we had the possibility to put the Bike of Honour on display and show the public how far we've come. Thanks to our main sponsor, GoCycle, we even had a second bike for our visitors to try out.

We had two exhibits in Strasbourg, the first of which took place at the Council of Europe. Indeed, the first edition of the project was realised under the auspices of the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe, Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland.

The second exhibit took place at the European Parliament, thanks to the efforts of MEP Doris Pack and her staff. During the plenary day, several MEPs stopped by, listened to our ideas and showed their support for the project - not without trying out the GoCycle bikes, much to the dismay of building security staff. Even Mr. Maroš Šefčovič, vice-president of the European Commission, joined us that afternoon.

The highlights of the exhibit were, of course, the compelling speeches of MEP Doris Pack, who voiced her Committee's concerns about the reduced funding for mobility in the upcoming EU budget, and of former President of the European Parliament, Mr. Jerzy Buzek, who praised the efforts of this young crew to put the topic of mobility on the agenda and to contribute for mutual understanding across borders.

Once the exhibits had taken place, it was time to hit the road again...
